Name: Ryan Laos
Years competing in chosen sport: 12 years
Why you love your sport: The constant challenge of improving your physique each day & the discipline this encourages in you.
Proudest Achievement: Placing 4th in the 2010 Musclemania World Championships which is the most prestigious natural bodybuilding event in the world. I competed against men from Korea, Romania, America & India.
Biggest Inspiration: Any natural bodybuilder that is making his mark on the competitive stage. As a judge for the ANB (Australasian Natural Bodybuilding) I am constantly inspired by each & every athlete that steps on stage.
Something we don't know about you: I really enjoy being a home renovator. At the moment I’m slowly turning my backyard into a Balinese style oasis.
What's playing on your iPod: Mostly Australian alternative bands such as Gyroscope, Something For Kate, Butterfly Effect, Dead Letter Circus, Electric Horse is a small example but liking some of the new Dub step from Nero. Also I despise iPods & prefer to use a Mp3. Far more user friendly & adaptive.

Tell us about your sport: From the outside it may look very vain but for me personally it is all about being healthy, feeling good about myself & creating functional strength.
Do you know how your sport began: From the early 1900’s men have been devising ways to become stronger. From lifting stones & any other heavy objects they could to the first manufactured barbell & so on from there.
Hardest thing about the sport: Trying to constantly build more muscle.
Best thing about the sport: The feeling of stress relief after each & every training session.
Any advice for people looking to start: No.1 is to stay natural & not use any enhancing drugs. You must be patient as gains can be slow at times but you have to be persistent & consistent with your training, eating & sleeping.
If you had to choose another sport what it would be: I love to be at the beach, around water & love to surf. I like to think that if I was brought up on the beach I would be a competing & doing my best trying to make a living as a professional surfer. To make a living playing a sport you love would be the ultimate job & life.

How many training times per week: 4-5 days per week for 1.5 hrs each session.
What exercises: Each time I enter the gym it is only then that I decide what exercise I will do that day. It changes depending how I feel & what equipment is free to use. In saying that, on days that I squat & dead lift I am starting to think about that session the day prior. Starting to psyche myself up for these heavy lifts throughout the day really helps me once I enter the gym & progress through the lifts until I reach my goal.
Favourite session: Every session & body part is my favourite as I want to grow each & every muscle to its full potential.
Hardest session: Definitely without question are quads.
Favourite place to train: To train at my current gym, Vince & Roz’s In Meadowbank Sydney. They have a huge amount of equipment & plenty of space. I also enjoy getting together with friends & train legs at World Gym Penrith which has some great Hammer Strength & Life fitness equipment. Every so often I get some time to train outdoors without conventional weights which is a great change up to your training.
Best training partner: My current partner Ivan Bowskill.
How do you keep motivated: My training partner & I motivate each other by talking over theories & ideas on training & diet. Coming up with different routines & exercise.
And…do bicep curls get the girls: Ha! You need a lot more than just curls to get the girls, so no..... you need abs too lol

What does your daily food diary look like: 630am 6 whole eggs & oats with fruit. 930am Chicken & vegies 1230pm chicken & vegies 330pm rice/potatoes chicken. 8pm steak & vegies.
Favourite food: Steak & vegies

In the morning I take 5g Glutamine, 1 Multivitamin, joint support caps & Q10 enzyme caps. At 430pm pre training I take 10g MUSASHI Creatine, 15g Re-Activate Hardcore. During training I use 40g Elevator.  Immediately after training I use 5g Nourish & 5g Create for instant amino acid intake & 10 min later its 30g of ISO8 protein powder with 40g simple carbs. Guilty Pleasure: Hot chips, but not very often.
