Day in the Life Of - Skye Cushway

Hello my name is Skye Cushway; I’m a Figure Competitor, Personal Trainer, Les mills Body Pump, RPM and Yoga Instructor who lives on the beautiful Gold Coast.

I have been doing figure competitions for just over 12 months and in that short time I have tasted some success, which is has been rewarding when I have been training solidly for over 6 years to build the muscle and symmetry required to be competitive on the figure stage.


Last year I won my first comp at the ANB Asia pacific, then went onto win the Overall Champion at the INBA All Female Classic in Melbourne and also qualified to compete in Las Vegas at the Muscle Mania weekend at the end of 2010 where I placed 7th. Out of this I was featured on my first magazine front cover, thanks to Oxygen.


So far in 2011 I have competed in the IFBB Australian Amateur Grand prix and Placed 3rd in a really tough line up then the week after I placed 2nd at the IFBB Brisbane Titles.
After a hectic 12 months, I have moved into my “off season”, now for most sports this may mean completely switching off however for figure shaping I believe the off season is just as important as being in season.


My training now is really important; I will be focusing in on building muscle mass and working on the areas that need more improvement. I have set a goal with my coach and I’m aiming to stay lean as I have some photo shoots coming up at the end of the year.


Next March 2012 will be my next show so I expect to make some great improvements to my body in this coming 6 months by training with intensity, Great supplementation (thanks Musashi) and eating super clean throughout the week and enjoying a few clean treats on the weekend.


It is quite important with my job to practise what I preach so that motivates me to keep myself in great condition and health. At the moment I do a 4 day weight training split/ 4x RPM classes/2 walks and 3 Pump classes so it is really important that I eat clean and use the right supplements.


On rising and before bed I take Disperse for liver support and fat metabolising. Before Cardio which is usually first thing in morning I take L-carnitine and before training with weights I take my RE-Activate Hardcore (favourite product!)


During my workout I drink Elevator and immediately post training Create and Glutamine, around 20mins after I take ISO8 chocolate. I really do believe my supplements help with my recovery and especially my performance.
