LIBBY TRICKETT TALKS TRAINING
April 29, 2009
After changing coaches and moving to Sydney I’m enjoying having a very different program to the one I had been used to in Brisbane.
It is a program which is even more concentrated on sprinting, and although we do two less sessions in the water, we do more cross training. We do 8 sessions in the water, 3 weights sessions, 3 abs and core sessions, 1-2 bike sessions, and 1 yoga. Add into that the time we have to make for recovery i.e. Sleeping, massage and physio, it adds up to around 30 hours a week of exercise. So certainly in the middle of the season it’s pretty full on training.
I use a couple of supplements to assist my recovery, such as MUSASHI Loaded Protein and MUSASHI WPI (Whey Protein Isolate). These are an important part of my recovery and help me repair muscle breakdown, and aids in training performance and muscle growth. I also use MUSASHI Mega Fat Metaboliser to assist me in maintaining peak physical shape.
Hopefully, with my new training program and my supplements I will be able to make the World Championships team and come very close to my best times in July. I’m very excited about racing internationally this year. We will be spending 3 months overseas on the Mare Nostrum tour, training and racing in Europe. And here’s hoping that all the training, nutrition, and racing pays off in the end!
